USSD

USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) is a standard GSM protocol supported by almost all GSM handsets. A session-oriented technology unlike SMS (i.e. store and forward).USSD generates flash like messages that are displayed on a mobile handsets main screen without the need for the user to go to an ‘inbox’ to view them. USSD messages are not stored within the mobile handset, making them ‘one time read’ only – as soon as they are dismissed from the handset screen they are gone.
The protocol allows the subscribers to communicate with the applications of service provider’s with minimal delay between sending the query and receiving the response.
Finding high usability in PIN delivery and other sensitive use information such as stock alerts, appointment reminders, balance updates, surveys, voting and mobile coupon, USSD’s drag and drop menus are interactive and offer customer the convenience of an application.
USSD can help businesses increase their reach, as it is available regardless of the end-user’s mobile phone type and generation. New and compelling mobile customer engagement applications can be created using USSD. Anaya’s USSD is a hosted shared solution leading to faster time to market with low CAPEX investments.
