IDTR Karnal — digitising the journey from registration to assessment
The programme required one digital journey spanning trainee registration, course and slot selection, documentation, payments, operational administration and assessment across multiple user roles.
AnayaWorld engineered a multi-role platform connecting those workflows into one operating system for trainees, administrators, examiners and data-entry teams.
Context
IDTR Karnal is the Institute of Driving Training & Research, established as a joint initiative involving the Transport Department, Government of Haryana and Honda. In 2021, AnayaWorld worked through AKKADO on the digital platform for Honda India Foundation's IDTR Karnal programme, engineering the trainee-facing and operational workflows defined for the project.
Operational challenge
Before the platform, a driver-training institute serving Learner, Permanent, Renewal and New course pathways across HMV, LMV and 2W vehicle categories needed a single way to take a visitor from first interest through registration, course and slot selection, document verification, payment, in-person training, examination and certification — without every step depending on someone being physically present at a counter.
Diagnosis / process mapping
Requirements were mapped role by role before any screen was designed: a general visitor with no account, a registered trainee with OTP-based login, an admin/super admin with full operational control, an examiner who conducts and times testing, a data-entry user who records results, and a content manager who owns the site's course and content data. Each role's rights and screens were scoped independently, then connected into one system.
System designed
AnayaWorld engineered a responsive MERN-stack (MongoDB, React, Node.js) web platform connecting six distinct roles to one shared data model — registration, course and slot inventory, documents, payments, question bank, examination, results and certification all live in the same governed system rather than in separate manual records.
Trainee journey
A trainee registers with mobile/email OTP verification, selects a course category, vehicle category and course type, books an available calendar slot for HMV, LMV or 2W training, submits personal information and required documents, and pays online or offline with a generated receipt. Once enrolled, they can view their booked course and slot, receive notice when a course exam is activated, and sit a timed, randomized test — with results and a certificate available for download once issued.
Operations/admin layer
Admin and super admin users can register trainees directly (including counter and partial registrations), manage course, batch and slot listings, record offline payments, build and search a categorized question bank, generate randomized exam papers, and download reports across registrations, accounts and test records — filterable by date, location and course.
Assessment/testing layer
Examiners take attendance per batch and slot, activate the appropriate test for a trainee's booked time, and conduct timed, randomized 40-question examinations that submit automatically when time expires. Data-entry users record test results and generate certificates by batch, user ID or mobile number. Every test attempt and result is retained against the trainee's record. The system supports training, testing and certificate generation; it does not itself issue a government learner's licence.
Delivery
AnayaWorld delivered the platform from requirements to UAT in approximately six months.
